I am Mrs. Hockersmith. I am excited to start my 8th year teaching at Sault Area Middle School for the 2023-2024 school year.

My husband and I relocated to Michigan in summer of 2016 from the sunny state of Arizona. I had been teaching in Arizona for 6 years before we moved. While in Arizona I taught high school math of all levels. Prior to living and teaching in Arizona I was teaching in Washington state. In Washington I taught everything from 6th grade math and science to Pre-Calculus to seniors in high school.

I received my Bachelors of Arts in Education from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. I then went on to earn my Master's degree in Educational Leadership from the same university. I have added on my middle level math and science endorsements and secondary mathematics endorsements along my teaching journey.

I am married and have a 14 year old (who is a freshman in Sault High) and a soon to be 9 year old (who is in third grader at Lincoln); both boys. When I'm not busy at school and teaching my boys keep me busy. Both boys play hockey here in the Soo and keep us busy running from place to place. During the summer we spend a lot of time camping around Michigan and the country.

I'm looking forward to this year teacing math lab and WIN.
