School Supplies

Classroom Supply List

  • Dear Parents and 5th Graders,

Welcome to Fifth Grade! I am looking forward to a great year! The most important “back to school supplies” that you will need this year are a positive attitude and an excitement to learn.

    ·         pencils

    ·         erasers

    ·         earbuds or headphones

    ·         binder

    .         face masks

    .         highlighters

    ·         colored pencils

    ·         box of tissues for the classroom

    ·         water bottle

    .         notebook

I look forward to teaching social studies and language arts (reading, spelling, writing, and grammar) to your child.

Since every child is a unique individual with diverse strengths and weaknesses, I believe in creating a classroom environment that will help every student achieve. This may sometimes involve different students doing different tasks at different times.

Students will be given time to complete assignments during class, but due to the vast curriculum requirements, it will sometimes be necessary to complete assignments at home (YES...HOMEWORK!) It is my goal to prepare your child for 6thgrade. I cannot do that without occasional homework.

All daily assignments are due the morning after they are given.  If a student is absent he/she will have until the next day to hand in completed work. When absent, I encourage you to log in to our google classroom to see what you have missed for the day. This is a very unique year, and I will do my best to have assignments on our google classroom page with virtual assignment options.

Your child will know in advance when a chapter or unit test will be administered. I do not believe in “pop quizzes” or surprise tests.

We will be having weekly spelling tests. They will usually be on Fridays. All spelling lists are published on spellingcity.com. I encourage your child to utilize this website to help study the weekly spelling words.

We will have planners in 5thgrade. The purpose of the planners is to help your child become organized and responsible for completing daily and weekly tasks. The planners are also a good tool for parent/teacher communication. It is your child's responsibility to make sure the planners are filled out and signed daily.

I look forward to a great year! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I check my email and phone messages regularly throughout the day.

    Thank you,
