A Little About Me
My husband, J.C., is also a proud Sault High graduate. Together, we are blessed with three energetic children who keep us busy, laughing, and learning every day!
I am honored to serve the students, families, staff, and community of Sault Area Secondary Schools. Please never hesitate to reach out by phone or email. We can only help with the situations we know about, and open communication is an important part of building a strong school community.
Here’s to a wonderful school year filled with learning, growth, connection, and success!
Cheers to a great year! Stay safe, stay healthy, and Go Blue Devils!
My Educational Journey
This year marks my 22nd year in education. I am a proud graduate of Sault High School and feel especially fortunate to have the opportunity to serve the school and community that helped shape who I am today.
I earned my teaching degree from Central Michigan University in 2005, majoring in Business Education with a minor in Mathematics. In 2011, I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Michigan University, followed by my Education Specialist degree from Northern Michigan University in 2021. I was also blessed with an opportunity to be a member of Teach Michigan Sitting Leaders (2023) and Teach American Rural Leaders (2026).
Throughout my career, I have taught mathematics in California, Kinross, and at Malcolm High School in Sault Ste. Marie. These experiences have shaped my belief that every student has unique strengths, talents, and potential, and that it is our responsibility as educators to help them discover and develop those strengths.
Welcome to Sault Area Secondary Schools
I am excited to begin my fourth year as principal of Sault Area High School and Career Center, my 12th year as a member of the Sault Area Schools administrative team, and my first year serving as principal of Sault Area Secondary Schools. I am truly grateful to work alongside an exceptional team of educators and support staff who are committed each day to doing what is best for our students.
I believe every day is a new opportunity to learn, grow, and make a difference. I believe respect goes a long way, and I strive to live and lead “above the line”—taking the time to understand situations and perspectives before forming opinions. Building relationships, listening, collaborating, and finding solutions are at the core of my leadership.
One of the most rewarding parts of my job is working with students and watching them grow from freshmen into confident, capable seniors. I enjoy celebrating their accomplishments, supporting them through challenges, and helping them develop the skills and confidence they need to advocate for themselves and prepare for life after graduation.
My enthusiasm for students, commitment to collaboration, and focus on efficiency guide me each day. My goal is simple: to make Sault Area Secondary Schools the best possible place to learn, grow, and prepare for “What’s Next?” We are fortunate to have an amazing staff that genuinely cares about ALL students and works together to create opportunities for every student to be successful.
