CTE Students in Action
CTE News
Sault Area High School & Career Center invited community members and local businesses and organizations to come in and interview senior students as they prepare for their futures. Over 90% of our high school seniors had the opportunity to put their interview skills to the test.
Events and experiences like this are made possible due to the continued community partnerships between businesses, our career center, and our school district. By participating in these kinds of events, students can network and make connections that will make a lasting impact long after high school graduation.
Thank you to all of our students for participating and thank you to our community partners!

- Mock Interviews
Career and technical education (CTE) student ambassadors spoke about their experiences within CTE programs on January 28 during Perspectives, a radio show hosted by Mark SanAngelo on 1230 WSOO.
Kamryn, Madison, and Thelma represented the Sault Area Career Center spectacularly as they talked about the industry certifications offered, programs available, and student leadership experiences that students can receive through enrollment in CTE programs.
The radio show was aired live and provided the students an awesome opportunity to connect with listeners and share their own CTE stories.

Sixty-four students in Career Readiness, a required course for all sophomores, participated in a mock interview event on Monday, January 12.
The students just finished up a unit on interviewing and put their newly learned skills to the test in a simulated environment. For a majority of the students, this was their first time having an interview. After the interview, the interviewers gave each student feedback and tips for improvement. The students record the interview so that they can re-watch the interview and complete a self-assessment to determine their strengths and weaknesses.
Career Readiness is focused on helping students learn more about their abilities, interests, and aptitudes as they explore future career paths. Throughout the one semester course, students are exposed to the various career pathways while learning the ins and outs of becoming a qualified employee.
Thank you to our volunteers for spending the morning interviewing students and setting them up for future success!
For more information about the career center and course offerings, please reach out the CTE Director, Kellie Greener at (906) 635-6652 or email kgreener@eupschools.org.

Thank you to all of the volunteers who took time out of their day to help with the mock interview event. From left to right: Calvin Smith, Scott Pankow, Phil Donnay, Caitlin Galer, Marcy Thorne, and Heather Jackson.
