About Me

Hello. This is my 27th year in education with my first 25 years spent in the classroom teaching art to high school students. This is my 14th year at Sault High School.

My years in the classroom have given me a strong understanding of the high school experience and the academic, career, and personal decisions students face as they prepare for life after graduation.

As a school counselor I enjoy helping students identify their strengths & interests, explore their options, overcome challenges and take the next steps toward their goals.

What Does a Counselor Do?

School counseling is about supporting the whole student—academically, socially & emotionally and in planning for life after high school.

Instruction

Using a multi tiered approach I help students develop academic, career, and social-emotional skills they can use throughout high school and beyond.

Appraisal & Advisement

I help students understand their strengths, interests, abilities, academic progress and options for their future.

This can include:

  • Course selection and academic planning
  • Graduation requirements
  • College and career planning
  • Advanced Placement (AP) Classes
  • Career & Technical Education (CTE)
  • Dual Enrollment
  • Career exploration
  • Post-secondary planning
  • Connecting students with opportunities and resources

Counseling

Sometimes students need someone to talk to.

I provide short-term, goal-focused counseling and support to help students work through concerns that may be affecting their academic success, relationships, or overall well-being.

When a student needs additional or ongoing support beyond the scope of school counseling, I can help connect students and families with appropriate resources.

College & Career Resources

Counseling

High school can be exciting, challenging, stressful and confusing-all at the same time.

You don't have to figure everything out on your own.

If something is getting in the way of your ability to learn, participate or feel successful at school, come talk to me. We can work together to figure out what you need and what your next step might be.
