Mrs. Sirk

Welcome to Mrs. Sirk’s Science Class!

Hello and welcome! I’m Mrs. Sirk, and I’m excited to be your student’s science teacher this year.

I’m a proud graduate of Sault Area High School, Class of 2015. I went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a Pre-Medical concentration from Lake Superior State University in 2019. During my time at LSSU, I balanced my studies with work—spending four years at Pure Country Family Restaurant / Gunslingers Saloon and five years as a Cardiopulmonary Technician at War Memorial / MyMichigan Medical Center.

Fueled by a deep passion for science, I continued my education and earned a second Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 2020, along with minors in Biochemistry and Cannabis Chemistry. After graduation, I moved to Ohio to work as an analytical chemist at the global headquarters of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. While it was an incredible experience, I ultimately chose to return home to Sault Ste. Marie to be closer to family and raise my two young children.

Outside of school, my time is joyfully spent with my kids—two-year-old Everlee and nine-month-old Henrik. We love exploring local parks and beaches, and I’m pretty sure we’ve visited every one this summer!

My journey working at Sault High began in 2022–2023 as the Career & College Adviser, where I had the privilege of helping students plan for their futures. During the 2022-2023 school year, I also was an Adjunct at Lake Superior State University for Chemistry Lab. For the past two years, I’ve been teaching alongside the fantastic Science Department. During that time, I also completed my Master’s degree in Education through NMU, with a concentration in Educational Pedagogy.

I believe the combination of my academic background and hands-on experience in the collegiate, healthcare and industrial science fields has uniquely prepared me to be an effective and well-rounded teacher. These experiences allow me to bring real-world applications into the classroom and help students explore a wide range of future career paths—from medicine and research to industry and beyond.

Over the last two years in the classroom, both my students and I have grown tremendously. I’ve had the opportunity to teach Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, and Physics. These experiences have deepened my love for teaching, and I’m truly excited for the 2025–2026 school year.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. I’m always happy to connect and support your student’s success. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Sirk
