• Before Class
  • Do what you need to do: use the restroom or get a drink
  • Be on time
     
• Entering the room/Beginning of clas
  • Go to your seat
  • Read the board
  • Follow instructions
  • Bell Ringer (unless I’m absent)
  • Wait for next activity
     
• Instruction time
  • This is my time to tell you what I need to tell you
  • No talking, getting out of seats, sharpening pencils etc.
     
• Work time
  • Use your time wisely
  • Each assignment will be described in detail and I am happy to help if more instruction is needed
     
• End of class
  • Clean up all materials
  • All items should be put back where you found them. 
  • All tools and materials should be in perfect working order when you return them. 
  • Remain in assigned seats until the bell rings. 
  • I release you, not the bell.
• Asking for help
  • Raise your hand
  • Come to my desk
     
• Distributing Materials
  • I will pass materials out to the front row, they will pass them back. 
  • I will also go row by row to have students collect their materials needed and to replace them
• Class work
  • Setting up paper
    • Name, Date, Hour
  • Turning in work
    • Turn-in bin or google classroom
  • Finishing early
    • Read or do work from another class
    • Early finisher bin
       
• Leaving the room
  • Students will only leave the classroom while using SMARTpass.
     
• Bathroom pass/leaving during class time
  • No passes are given during the first 10 or last 10 minutes of class
  • No passes will be given during instruction/lecture time. 
  • SMARTpass must always be used.
  • Only one student out of the room at a time.
     
• Electronic devices
  • Chromebooks should be brought (grades 9-12) with you and they should be charged
  • Chromebooks should be used properly while following the 4 B’s
     
• Cell phones
  • No cell phone policy
     
• Attendance and tardies 
  • Daily attendance is important to stay up to date with assignments
  • Absences and tardies will be recorded and apply to SAPS attendance policy
     
• Seating chart
  • Seating charts will be used and enforced each day
  • This helps our class be productive and it also helps substitute teachers in many aspects of the class
     
• Late assignments
  • Each assignment will have specific details for completion and turning in. 
  • If an assignment is late it will be a 0 (zero) in the grade book until completed. Late work will not be accepted after the completion of a course unit. 
  • If you are working on an assignment and it is late, please communicate with me, I am a reasonable human.
     
• Food/Drink
  • Water bottles are welcomed in the classroom. 
  • Food should be consumed before class begins.

• Academic honesty
  • Do your own work and use your own knowledge to complete assignments. 
  • Plagiarism and the use of AI is unacceptable. 
  • If academic dishonesty is discovered on a quiz, test, or assessment you will receive a zero. If it is course work, an alternate assignment may be assigned.
     
• Kitchen Behavior
  • During life skills class (grades 7&8) there will be opportunities to complete kitchen cooking projects. Safety procedures and kitchen rules will be discussed in detail. This is imperative and will be taken very seriously. 
     
• Emergency situations and drills
  • Fire, tornado, and lock down drills are completed throughout the school year. We will practice our evacuation route during the first week of school, as well as other emergency procedures.
     
• What if we don’t follow expectations?
  • Verbal warning
  • Student and teacher discussion after class
  • Parent phone call or email
  • Referral to main office
  • Grades 7 & 8: If students choose to not follow expectations or do not complete safety procedures assignments, they will not participate in hands-on activities like cooking projects.
