Work-Based Learning

  • If you want to gain experience, earn credit toward graduation, explore a career field of your choice, and perhaps get paid all at the same time, you'll want to look into our Work-Based Learning programs.

    Cooperative Education

Cooperative Education allows students to gain paid, on-the-job work experience related to concurrent career technical instruction for high school credit. It can be scheduled for release time during school up to two hours per day.

To receive credit, students must be enrolled in a related career technical program and work at least 15 hours per week. Co-op students must be 16 years of age and be juniors or seniors. Co-op experience is documented on the career center certificate awarded to students who successfully complete a related career technical program.

    Work Experience

Work Experience offers on-the-job paid training for high school credit. It is scheduled in addition to the school day. Students must work a minimum of 10 hours per week.

    Less Than Class Size

Interested in a career and the training is not currently available in an existing career center class? Then this may be the program for you. Custom-designed programs allow the student to choose the particular career they are interested in learning more about. Instruction is off campus under the supervision of participating area locations. Classes are arranged in two-hour blocks on a daily basis, although flexible schedules are available.
