  • Furloughed Families Can Apply for

    Free or Reduced School Meals

The free and reduced application is available year-round for all families in need.

Federal employees furloughed by the government can apply for free or reduced-price meals with an online application that walks them through the process.  Go to www.lunchapp.com to apply. You may also pick up an application at your child’s school.

The income is household based. The furloughed worker would report their income on the form as zero dollars—if they did not receive any money when they expected a paycheck.  Other members of the household who did earn money would need to report their income.

What happens after the shutdown?  If the students are approved for free or reduced school meals, the approval lasts throughout the school year—whether the parents’ income is altered or not.

If you have any questions, please contact Brenda Garland, Food Service Director at 906-632-5656 or email bgarland@eupschools.org.
